Ponta do Trovão
Ponta do Trovão
Ponta do Trovão, located on the northern slope of the Peniche Peninsula, is considered by the scientific community to have the best record in the world of the transition between the Pliensbachian-Toarcian time intervals (Lower Jurassic floors).

From this importance arose the placement of the traditional Golden Spike in the deposit, which symbolizes its geological relevance at an international level.

The story these rocks tell goes back about 200 million years and to the most recent "life" on our planet.
