Furninha Cave
Furninha Cave
Furninha Cave is a natural cave located south of Peniche and is one of the oldest caves on the planet.

It is a testimonial that dates back more than 40,000 years, to the Neanderthal period. At that time, humans ceased to be nomads and began to settle in some places, in this case they inhabited the caves near the sea to collect food.

This geological monument, coming from a long period of transformations of the Earth, even before the formation of the oceans, is part of a set of rock formations unique in the world, which helped to give a new understanding about the evolution of man.
